Our Commitment
Training is incredibly important - it is our way of pro-actively working to secure the future success of our business by organically growing our workforce from within.’
- Mark Townsend, Managing Director
Academic Training:
In addition to the two recognised trade apprenticeships that we operate we also have our own internal training programme.
We see the completion of NVQ3 as only the beginning. We monitor our staff carefully and record any who show aptitude and academic ability and ear mark them for further training and career development.
This academic year we have enrolled five members of staff onto HNC courses in Building Services Engineering to further their careers as Electrical and Mechanical Design and Contracts Engineers. We have also recruited a Trainee Quantity Surveyor who has commenced their degree in Quantity Surveying and Construction Commercial Management and enrolled a graduate Quantity Surveyor on to a Master’s Degree in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution.
CSCS Card Scheme:
Working within the construction industry it is imperative that individuals hold the correct levels of technical and health and safety training specific for their role in order to ensure a safe working environment for themselves and their team. This year we are proud to have been awarded with the Platinum Status Certification of Commitment to the CSCS Scheme. This scheme provides people employed on construction sites with a portable means of identity and proof of competence to carry out their work on site. Construction Skills recognise employers whose onsite workers hold full CSCS cards, awarding Platinum status where 90% or more workers are carded - we are proud to have achieved 95% in our recent assessment.
In-House Training:
Our in-house Health and Safety Manager performs site inductions and relevant health and safety training to all personnel as and when required.
In addition we are always looking for ways in which to develop and refresh the skills base within the office. Ensuring staff at all levels have the confidence and ability to fulfil their roles effectively is imperative to the success of the business, and conducive to a productive working environment. As such this year we have introduced a new portfolio of courses including Business Writing, Presentation Skills, Influencing Skills and Management Effectiveness. This equated to an additional 136 training days last year.
