Friday 24th October 2014 saw the 10th Annual Apprentice and Long Service Awards at Derry Building Services.
At an intimate ceremony, consisting of friends and family members of the award winners, Mr John Kirkland, Group Chairman, awarded those who have shown real dedication to their studies over the course of their apprenticeships.
This year’s apprentice role of honour included;
Ryan Selby - Stage 1 Electrical
Jacob Jones - Stage 2 Electrical
Nathan Millett - Stage 3 Electrical
Joe Dudley - Stage 4 Electrical
Lewis Berry - Mechanical Achievement
Marcus Eakins - Mechanical Apprentice of the Year
An additional congratulation was given to Joe Dudley who became the second person in the history of the awards to win all 4 stages consecutively throughout his electrical apprenticeship.
Steve Burley, Director, commented;
‘We are extremely proud of all of our apprentices; however this year’s winners have demonstrated outstanding academic and practical performance during the year. It is always a great pleasure to congratulate them and to meet the family and friends who have supported them throughout.
This year Joe Dudley became the second person in 10 years to have won all Stages in the Electrical category, an accolade that he should be incredibly proud of. He has shown exemplary commitment to his studies throughout his apprenticeship and without doubt has an incredibly bright future ahead of him within the company.’
Also recognised at the ceremony were seven members of staff who have served with the company for 10 years. Each were awarded with a bottle of champagne and a pair of champagne flutes as a small thank you for their commitment and dedication.

Catherine Tomlinson - CAD Technician
John Timmins - Mechanical Project Manager
Kevin Ward - Site Manager
Adrian Franklin - Mechanical Project Engineer
Adam Godfrey - Site Supervisor
A special presentation was given to Alan Wilson, Site Manager, to recognise his 25th anniversary with the company.
