11th Apprentice & Long Service Awards

Friday 30th October 2015 saw the 11th Apprentice and Long Service Awards at Derry Building Services.

Friends and family of the award winners gathered, along with those celebrating 10 and 25 years’ service to the company, to acknowledge the achievements of the six young men who would be named Apprentices of the Year in their respective fields.

Jack Kirkland, B&K Group Director, attended the ceremony to bestow his congratulations on the winners and present the awards. He commented;

‘I always like coming to DBS, but it’s especially enjoyable on a happy occasion such as this when we get the opportunity to recognise the personal efforts and achievements of those who have worked hard – often in demanding environments – and achieved success. Well done! We’re very proud of you.’

This year’s award winners were:

Stage 1 Electrical Apprentice of the Year

Dillon Jones

‘Always performs well and this is reflected in his results.’ - Paul Green, Loughborough College

Stage 2 Electrical Apprentice of the Year

Niall Watson

‘He’s been the hardest working student I have come across.’ - Gareth Owen, Lincoln College

Stage 3 Electrical Apprentice of the Year

Lewis Batterham

‘Keen to learn and produces work to a very good standard.’ - Keanan Horan, DBS

Stage 4 Electrical Apprentice of the Year

Josh Corley

‘I’ve enjoyed watching him develop from an inexperienced apprentice to a qualified electrician.’ - Wayne Thompson, DBS

Mechanical Apprentice of the Year

Lewis Berry

‘He’s a credit to himself and his employer.’ - Paul Guise, Leeds College of Building

Mechanical Achievement of the Year

Callum Wing

‘I’m very pleased with his theory and practical progress.’ - Neil Islip, Leeds College of Building

Also recognised at the ceremony were 15 members of staff for their long service and commitment to the company.
