Double Celebration at JTL Regional Awards

» 12th November 2014

There was much cause for celebration at the JTL East Midlands Regional Awards last night held at Leicester Tigers’ Welford Road Stadium with Joe Dudley, Electrical Apprentice, awarded ‘Best Apprentice’ and DBS awarded 'Best Employer' for their commitment to training.

Joe, who completed his 4 year apprenticeship in Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment earlier this year, was one of 6 nominated for the award each of whom had been put forward for the title by the JTL’s Regional Training Officers. The award recognises him for his exceptional academic work, outstanding practical abilities and excellent feedback from his employer throughout his apprenticeship.

Joe will now go on to fight for the title of ‘JTL National Apprentice of the Year’ which will be announced at an awards ceremony held at Drapers’ Hall in London on 25th February 2015.

Steve Burley, Director commented;

‘Joe has worked exceptionally hard throughout his apprenticeship and is a fantastic ambassador for our industry. His determination and commitment to his studies has been truly commendable and receiving this recognition is nothing less than he deserves. We are very proud of him, and of what he has achieved, and wish him the best of luck as he goes forward to the National Finals to be announced early next year.

Training is incredibly important to us so to be awarded ‘Best Employer’ for the East Midlands is a real honour. Apprentices form the foundations of our business with the majority of our workforce beginning their careers as an apprentice, including myself and our Managing Director. We recognise how important this route is into our industry and feel it is our obligation to ensure that young people receive the support and encouragement they need to excel - after all they are the Managers and Directors of tomorrow.’
