About The Project:
The design and construction of this new build 6th Form College comprised a GIFA of 2,521m on four floors complete with drainage and external landscaping. The building boasts Europe's largest cantilever with almost 50% of the building forming it.
This Post-16 Centre incorporates an iconic design which integrates the building with the rest of the school. The building has a low environmental impact and achieved a BREEAM rating of Very Good.
Derry Building Services also carried out refurbishment works of an adjacent building, the Bryony Centre and an adjoining Youth Centre. The additions to the original contracted works totalled £375k with the installation being completed by July 2011.
Within the electrical installation Derry Building Services oversaw the installation of a solar powered photovoltaic system which consists of 135 Sharp NU-185-E1 panels that can generate 24.975 Kwp, and in turn generates 19200 kWh per year. This addition will save in the region of 10,906 kilograms of CO₂ per year.
