£40,000 to 1.8 Million
About The Project:
Since our first project at Mansfield in 2000 for Orange Telecommunications, now part of Everything Everywhere along with T-Mobile, Derry Building Services have formulated a partnering arrangement and carried out numerous new build, refurbishments, replacements and upgradesof existing Everything Everywhere switch sites nationwide.
All of these projects have been carried out on a Design and Build basis with Derry Building Services taking full responsibility as Main Contractor. This has involved design, procurement and installation including the management and co-ordination of civil works such as walls, raised floors, generators and other major plant bases and trenching.
The sites generally consist of a computer / phone switch-room controlled to a constant temperature whilst having between 100 and 1000 watts per m sq. of heat generation from the equipment within it.
With security of the electrical supplies to these sites being of utmost importance to enable Everything Everywhere to run a stable phone network, the supply is backed up via a N+1 UPS arrangement system and then again via a N+1 generator provision. There are also the facilities to provide temporary generators if required.
All cooling and air handling plant is provided on a N+1 basis in order to provide redundancy should any of the plant fail.
Each switch site is fitted with aspirated smoke detection systems along with gas extinguishing equipment to prevent any fires should they occur, along with full intruder alarm, CCTV and access control systems which can be remotely monitored.
All of the buildings plant and equipment is monitored via a BMS system which has the facilities to be monitored off site at the central station via Everything Everywhere personnel. The sites are designed to be unmanned and operate 24 hours a day.
Currently our works include the support of the original contracts as well as an upgrade programme which involves the upgrades of services including:
- Fuel Tanks
- Electrical Installation
- Fire Alarms
