DBS are looking for talented Mechanical & Electrical Site Site Managers, Delivery Engineers and Project Managers to join our team.

 

As a Building Services Engineer you will;

 

  • Negotiate and develop project contracts and agree these with clients

  • Commission, organise and assess the work of contractors

  • Work with detailed diagrams, plans and drawings

  • Use specialist computer-aided design (CAD) software and other resources to design the systems required for the project

  • Use and develop Building Information Modelling (BIM) to ensure systems are co-ordinated in a complex construction or refurbishment project

  • Manage and forecast spend, using whole life cycle costing techniques, ensuring that work is carried out within budget and energy-efficient systems are implemented

  • Design site-specific equipment as required

  • Oversee and supervise the installation of building systems and specify maintenance and operating procedures

  • Monitor building systems and processes

  • Make decisions about expired systems equipment and the appropriate location of new equipment

  • Liaise closely with other professionals, including structural engineers, builders, architects and surveyors and in-house project teams

  • Attend a range of project group and technical meetings

  • Ensure that the design and maintenance of building systems meets legislative and health and safety requirements

  • Advise clients and architects on energy use and conservation in a range of buildings and sites, with the aim of minimising the site's environmental impact and reducing its carbon footprint

  • Work on a variety of projects within a short period of time

 
Successful candidates will need to show evidence of;

  • 3D visualisation, computer modelling and IT competence

 

Successful candidates will typically hold an existing engineering qualification. A HNC or Degree in one of the following subjects would be useful but is not essential;

Mechanical & Electrical Design Engineers - All Levels Considered, Newark & Birmingham

DBS are looking for talented Mechanical and Electrical Design Engineers at all levels to join our team.

 

 

Who We're Looking for:

We are looking for candidates that are articulate and able to communicate in a confident and professional manner. Candidates must be able to work as part of a team but should also be self-motivated and able to work on their own initiative with minimal supervision.

 

Candidates should hold an appropriate HNC / HND / Degree level engineering qualification and be able to demonstrate a sound working knowledge, and proven track record, of the design of building services within either a contracting or consultancy environment.

 

At trainee level candidates must hold a minimum of 3 A level passes, at Grade B or above, in Maths, Physics, or similar numerate/science subjects, and have a GCSE at Grade C or above in English. They should also be IT proficient.

 

What we are offering:

As a Design Engineer you will liaise, develop and review design solutions with colleagues, contractors, clients and consultants. You will also provide support to the construction teams to ensure installations adhere to legislative requirements, in-house technical standards and design requirements.

 

In addition, you will provide support to the operation and service teams in the development of a commissioning plan and completion of all commissioning activities. You will also support the design team with the review and checking of designs produced by others within the team, as well as by external consultants or contractors.

 

Duties Include:
  • Developing 2D / 3D CAD layouts and visuals
  • Building environmental modelling using industry software applications
  • Carrying out Dynamic Thermal Simulations and Summertime Overheating Assessments
  • Carrying out Part L Calculations
  • Preparing applications for incoming utilities
  • Reviewing Low Carbon Design Solutions
  • Reviewing Performance Specifications
  • Assisting with full Building Services Design requirements such as
    • Heating
    • Ventilation
    • Cooling
    • Domestic Services
    • Lighting
    • Power
    • BMS
    • Security
  • Fire Detection/Smoke Control
  • Liaising with our Project Installation Teams
  • Liaising with suppliers and specialist sub-contractors
  • Preparing Technical Submission Documents
