Working in partnership to create beautiful, usable spaces which support the communities they serve and enable growth and opportunity for all.

We appreciate our works can impact the communities within which we operate and are committed to ensuring the footprints we leave positively benefit current and future generations.

We also believe passionately in our people and that's why it's important to us that we facilitate the right environment for all of them to succeed.

Thinking Local

At DBS we do our very best to employ local and spend local on every project we work on. We encourage our Supply Chain to do the same and regularly monitor them to ensure that they are aligned to our business practices and the high standards to which we hold ourselves.

We seek to work with social enterprises on many of our projects and are committed to facilitating opportunities including;

  • Providing training and apprenticeship opportunities
  • Creating jobs for, and employing people from the local community
  • Offering opportunities to voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations
  • Paying promptly
  • Promoting good mental health and wellbeing to our staff through various initiatives
  • Employing a diverse workforce
Upskilling and Continued Professional Development

We are committed to the health, wellbeing and continued professional development of all our people and see training as a long-term investment. We strive to nurture a continual learning ethos by providing a positive learning environment which is reinforced and promoted at all levels.

We arrange all Health, Safety and Wellbeing training along with relevant industry training, Personal Development training, a comprehensive mechanical and electrical CPD schedule and Toolbox Talks, all of which are designed to develop the knowledge and capabilities of our employees.

In 2023 we invested TBC training places in Health, Safety and Wellbeing, TBC places in Personal Development Training and worked with industry experts to provide TBC CPD courses.

Educational Engagement

Throughout the 2022 / 2023 academic year we provided 10 weeks worth of work experience to 11 students across both our live sites and our Design, Projects, Commercial and Admin Teams.

In addition we attended 22 events at local schools, colleges and industry related groups facilitating over 8,500 interactions with young people to promote opportunities within our industry.

Charitable Support

Over the last 12 months DBS and our people have walked, run, baked, donated, dressed up, dressed down and volunteered their hard earned time and cash to support all of these worthwhile charities.

As a Group we are also proud to support the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity which is the only charity that is 100% dedicated to the emotional, physical and financial wellbeing of construction workers and their families.
